The UFC 190 weigh-ins are in the books and so is another Ronda Rousey Free Rice Contest. Thank you to everyone who participated! Together with your help, Ronda Rousey’s Free Rice Campaign has donated over 351 million grains spanning back to her days in Strikeforce. This means that 103,235 hungry people were able to eat because of all of your time and efforts. Maybe it’s time we start thinking about trying for the Guinness Book of World Records!
One question that we receive a lot is;
“How do you know how many people can be fed with the rice that is donated?”
Well, that’s a great question! Since one bowl of rice is about 3,400 grains and comes out to about 3 cups of cooked rice, that was enough to feed a hungry person one meal.
With all of Ronda’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram followers talking about this and thinking that it would be possible to donate up to a million grains of rice a day. Someone said, well that’s only enough to feed less than 300 people a day, that won’t matter. Ronda’s answer was,
As the UFC 190 Free Rice Contest was about to begin, we set a goal of 80,000,000 grains of rice which would feed 23,529 people. We came just shy of our goal, but we did donate 73,207,630 million grains of rice which will feed 21,531 people!
Ronda would also like to extend a special THANK YOU to Monster Products, Reebok, MetroPCS and The Glendale Fighting Club who helped make this possible by donating some truly AMAZING prizes for those who participated in Ronda Rousey’s UFC 190 Free Rice Contest.
